Basic to successful rehabilitation of any individual is the ability to communicate with others. Watching a family member or friend struggle to communicate is frightening and frustrating.
The programs in Speech Pathology at Mesa Verde provide treatment for problems involving speech, hearing, and dysphagia (difficulty in swallowing). These impairments are often the result of disorders such as a stroke, Parkinson's disease, trauma, or other neurological diseases.
The licensed Speech Pathologists at Mesa Verde work closely with the physician, family, and other members of the rehabilitation team to identify and treat those patients who have difficulty understanding or expressing their basic needs.
