Connie Addicks, our Director of Speech Therapy
Basic to successful rehabilitation of any individual is the ability to communicate with others. Watching a family member or friend struggle to communicate is frightening and frustrating.
The programs in Speech Pathology at Mesa Verde provide treatment for problems involving speech, hearing, and dysphagia (difficulty in swallowing). These impairments are often the result of disorders such as a stroke, Parkinson's disease, trauma, or other neurological diseases.
Connie Addicks has been in the field of Speech Lanaugage Pathology for over 30 years. Following a BA from the University of La Verne, she received a Masters Degree from University of Redlands in Speech Language Pathology. Her vast experience includes teaching at Seton Hall University, Director of Rehab for Acute Hospitals, long term care and home health agencies. Connie is very dedicated to the residents at Mesa Verde and is able to provide therapy for those experiencing dysphasia (swallowing disorders) aphasia (loss of speech/language) resulting from strokes, cognitive deficit (memory attention, reasoning, judgement) resulting from neurological imparement including head trauma.
